Founded in 1943, the School of Public Health is a multi-disciplinary institution that conducts ground-breaking research, promotes world-wide health, and provides education on the undergraduate, technical, masters, and doctoral levels.
Health Initiative of the Americas (HIA)
Founded in 2001 as a joint program with the University of California, Berkeley—School of Public Health, the Initiative aims to improve the health of immigrant and migrant populations in the United States, Mexico, and Latin America by facilitating access to health care, researching health needs, providing training programs, and promoting policy change. HIA is a collaborative effort that connects governments, academia, the private sector, and community-based organizations in a trans-disciplinary approach to combatting issues related to health and migration.
University of California Global Health Institute—Center of Expertise in Migration and Health
(UCGHI-COEMH)
UCGHI, a cross-campus and cross-disciplinary Institute, promotes global health through education, research, and partner initiatives. COEMH, one of its three focus areas, addresses the complex issue of migration and its impact on individuals, communities, and countries of origin and destination. The Center fosters graduate education, conducts research in affected communities, and develops transnational collaboration.
Migration and Health Resource Center (MAHRC)
A collaboration between UC Berkeley and UC Davis, the Center bridges the gap between research and policy-making. It conducts research on the health of migrant populations and translates these findings into policy recommendations.
